After Sundays win over Carmarthen Town in the FAW Welsh Cup Rhyl’s chances of a place in next season’s Europa League have increased.
Following the 2-0 win at Carmarthen Town Rhyl now have an away fixture in the semi-final of a competition they won last in 2006. The league also has the opportunity for the Lilywhites to progress to the qualification stages of Europe’s second trophy competition with 7th place firmly up for grabs.
With six league games to go Rhyl face have to face everybody in the lower section of the league with a, what could be, vital game on the 11th April against current 7th place team, Carmarthen Town.
Next up though is two derby games against Bangor City this Saturday at the Corbett Sports Stadium and then a short trip to Bastion Gardens taking on Prestatyn Town on the 20th March. Both sides will be tough as both are currently in the relegation zone.
Rhyl’s last game before the semi-final is a home tie to GAP Connah’s Quay on 28th March with the Newtown tie being on the weekend of the 4/5 April.
Following the Welsh Cup game Rhyl then take on Carmarthen Town and then the final two games of the season include the final home game with Rhyl entertaining Cefn Druids on 18th April and then the final game of the season see’s the Lilywhites travel to Bangor in a fixture which could see the home side already relegated from the Welsh Premier League.
