Chelsea seem set to announce the signing of Brazilian wonderkid Nathan today in a move thought to be in the region of £4.5 million and will be another blow last season’s Premier League champions Manchester City.
The dazzling attacking midfielder, who is only 19, is reportedly to have passed a medical on Tuesday.
Two years ago he was one of the stars of the Under17 Championship playing for Brazil and has since broken into the Atletico Paranaense team. However it seems a serious contract dispute with the Brazilian side meant Chelsea were able to swoop.
The Brazilian contingent at Chelsea is already strong with Willian, Ramires, Filipe Luis and Oscar in the ranks and the signing of Nathan is another sign of the strong connections the London club has in South America.
The staggering potential of Nathan, who can also play as a secondary striker, means he could feature in Jose Mourinho’s first team next season as they also look into the transfer of Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi.
