Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat wows Venue Cymru audience

Last night Llandudno witnessed the second extravaganza within a fortnight in the town but this time of a Technicolor variety.

The stage production of Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat tells the biblical story of Joseph and his 11 brothers as Joseph turns his life around after being sold by his brothers to becoming a Prince in Egypt.

The role of Joseph is played by Lloyd Daniels, X Factor finalist in the sixth series 2009, following in the footsteps of Jason Donavon, Philip Schofield and most recently Lee Mead who have made this role so iconic in the show and in the musical theatre world.

Making his musical theatre debut Lloyd really makes the role his own and the audience took him into their hearts as he sang the classics including Close Every Door and Any Dream Will Do.

Matt Lapinskas plays Pharaoh and his Elvis impersonation is one not to be missed!

Matt is probably most famous for his role in BBC One soap Eastenders as Antony Moon, cousin to Shane Richie’s character Alfie. Throughout the show he plays two roles the main as Pharaoh where he really comes into his own and you can see his personality and enthusiasm shine through. The second role is that of Gad, one of Joseph’s brothers.

The final leading role is that of Narrator with the third place finalist in the eighth series (2011) of X Factor Amelia Lily taking up the role. Amelia’s stage presence brought the show together with her singing and her dueting with Lloyd and Matt throughout really worked. This role has also just given her the opportunity to take up her next role in theatre as ‘Whatshername’ in the West End production of Green Day’s American Idiot.

A special mention has to go to the Joseph Choir. This group of children attend the stage through the show and their singing was top draw and everyone associated with them should be very proud.

Also the stage setting were fantastic and rightly worthy of a west end show including the blow up sheep. As were the costumes and the final Technicolor Dreamcoat was a brilliant fitting end to the show.

Joseph And The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat runs at Venue Cymru throughout the week upto and including Saturday 16th May and you can book tickets now by phoning their box office on 01492 872000 or by going online at http://www.venuecymru.co.uk
