Kaka, the decorated Brazilian that has a CV that includes AC Milan and Real Madrid, signed for new MLS side Orlando City Soccer Club during the season break and has been an instant hit with the Florida side.
New York City Football Club have entered their first season in the MLS by signing their three designated players in the form of Spanish World and European Champion forward David Villa after he left Barcelona. NYFC also brought in another World and European Champion in the form of Italian former Juventus, AC Milan and Inter Milan midfield maestro Andrea Pirlo. The third player is Former West Ham United and Chelsea legend Frank Lampard, who can show off a Champions League and Europa League winners medal in the dressing room.
LA Galaxy continues their British element after signing David Beckham with having Republic Of Ireland International striker Robbie Keane and the newly signed Liverpool legend Steven Gerrard. The former is hoping to have just as a successful career stateside as Beckham did during his time in California.
Portland Timbers and Seattle Sounders each have a former Premier League player in their ranks with Liam Ridgewell, formerly of Aston Villa, plying his trade in Portland, and Nigerian forward Obafemi Martins playing for The Sounders. Martins played for Newcastle United during his time in the Premier League and can also count Inter Milan of Italy as a former club.
New York Red Bulls who are famous for having designated players such as Juan Pablo Angel and Thierry Henry in the past now have a English representation with the Wright-Philips brothers. Bradley, who has been at the club for some seasons has been joined by his brother Shaun, formerly of Manchester City and Chelsea and are the sons of former Arsenal and England forward Ian Wright. Shaun joined the Red Bulls after playing most recently for Queens Park Rangers after winning honours at Chelsea and rejoining his boyhood team Manchester City.
The latest designated player to join the MLS ranks is Ivory Coast and Chelsea legend Didier Drogba. Drogba, who scored the decisive spot kick in the 2012 Champions League Final against Bayern Munich for Chelsea moves to Canadian Side Montreal Impact after being released by Chelsea after winning the Premier League and League Cup in his second stint at the club in the 2014/15 season.
