Venue Cymru will host an explosion of arts and literature workshops and events in January 2017, with the return of take pART. Following on from last year’s hugely successful event’ which attracted some 10,000 people through Venue Cymru’s doors, take pART 8 is looking to be even bigger and better than ever before, with news of three headlining events which are guaranteed to sell out.
Aardman Animations, the Oscar winning company behind Shaun The Sheep, Wallace & Gromit and Morph return following huge success last January when all the sessions sold out. Book early for a chance to make your own Shaun the Sheep on Saturday 14 January or Gromit on Sunday 15th. All sessions are high demand so you best act quickly to secure your place for this truly ewe-nique experience.

Children’s author and illustrator, Nick Sharratt will be a huge draw on the Sunday when he offers two sessions in Venue Cymru’s hall. In the first session at 10am, ‘Nick Sharratt Big Draw Along’, Nick will draw and the audience will draw along with him simultaneously. The afternoon session will be a food themed event called ‘Ketchup on your Cornflakes and Toothpaste on your Toast’. Suitable for 4-11 year olds, this session with feature Nick reading from his books, drawing, making up a poem – with plenty of laughter and audience participation.
Come along and meet Children’s Laureate Chris Riddell who has found time in his very busy schedule to come to North Wales to inspire budding authors and illustrators. Ask him a question and he will live illustrate the answer! Find out how much fun you can have with a pencil as Chris talks about his laureateship and the inspiration behind some of his much loved work like Ottoline and Goth Girl on Sunday 15th January at 11.15am and 3pm.
So that’s’ animation, illustration and writing covered, what about Science? Strap on your safety goggles boys and girls, Science’s greatest and most volatile live show is returning with a vengeance. Based on the multi-award winning TV show, Brainiac Live! More mischievous than ever before Brainiac Live! will take you on a breathless ride through the wild world of the weird and wonderful. Expect exploding dustbins, combusting microwaves and loads of live daredevil stunts! Watch from the safety of your seat as the Brainiacs delve fearlessly into the mysteries of science and do all of those things on stage that you’re too scared to do at home! With two performances of Brainiac Live and two hands on workshops you’re in for an explosive time!
S4C’s Sioe Cyw will be live on stage on the Sunday for three shows in the theatre auditorium. Now a take pART regular, Cyw will return with all her friends for lots of singing and dancing so don’t miss the chance to join in on the all the fun – and a chance to meet Cyw and co after the show.

There will be no set price, instead take pART organisers are asking you to donate what you can. Every penny of your donation will go towards running future take pART events so all donations will be gratefully received.
There will be over 200 workshops, drop in sessions and performances over the weekend, and the online brochure will be available very soon.

take pART is aimed at the 0 to 18-years-old age group, but previous weekends have seen parents, grandparents and even great-grandparents getting involved in workshops and craft sessions that take place throughout Venue Cymru.
